Mo Layer Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Mo Layer handles information when you use the iPhone app, website, feedback forms, support channels, subscription features, and related services.
Mo Layer is designed as a local-first private vault. Your private vault content stays on your device by default. If you enable encrypted iCloud sync, vault data is encrypted before upload for recovery and device changes. The developer does not hold your decryption key.
1. Who is responsible for this policy
Mo Layer is provided by 林逍遥. For privacy questions, contact xfy150150@gmail.com.
2. Summary
Mo Layer is designed around these principles:
- Private vault files are local-first.
- Optional iCloud sync stores encrypted vault data through Apple’s services.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your private vault files for advertising.
- We do not use third-party ad tracking SDKs.
- The website feedback form collects only the information you choose to submit, plus basic technical information needed to process feedback.
3. Information stored in the app
Depending on how you use Mo Layer, the app may store information on your device, including:
- Photos, videos, screenshots, documents, receipts, IDs, contracts, links, and files you import.
- File names, file types, sizes, dates, favorites, categories, folders, tags, thumbnails, and other vault metadata.
- Lock state, unlock settings, decoy space settings, intrusion records, recovery settings, sync status, and import history.
- Subscription entitlement status and feature availability.
- App settings such as language, display preferences, grid size, and onboarding progress.
This information is used to provide the private vault, organization, search, recovery, sync, decoy, and security features you choose to use.
4. Private vault content
Your private vault content is not uploaded to Mo Layer’s website and is not a web account hosted by the developer.
By default, private content remains on your device. If you enable encrypted iCloud sync or recovery, Mo Layer may store encrypted vault records and encrypted file assets in Apple’s iCloud or CloudKit environment associated with your Apple account.
The developer does not receive readable copies of your private vault content through normal app operation and does not hold the decryption key for synced vault content.
5. App permissions
Mo Layer may ask for iOS permissions when needed for specific features. Examples include:
- Photos access, to import selected media from your photo library.
- Files access, to import documents or export content through iOS document pickers.
- Camera or microphone access, if a feature requires capture or recording.
- Face ID, Touch ID, or device authentication, to unlock or protect access.
- iCloud availability, to support optional encrypted sync and recovery.
- Notifications or Live Activities, if you enable recording, progress, reminder, or status features.
Permissions are controlled by iOS. You can change permissions in the Settings app. If you deny or later disable a permission, the related feature may not work.
6. Website feedback and support data
If you use the Mo Layer website feedback form or contact support, we may collect:
- Feedback type, title, and message.
- Optional email address.
- Optional app version.
- Locale or language.
- Browser user agent and basic technical information submitted by the browser.
- Status information used to review, prioritize, and resolve feedback.
Do not include passwords, passcodes, private vault files, identity documents, payment card details, or other highly sensitive information in feedback messages unless we specifically request it for troubleshooting and you understand the risk.
We use feedback and support data to respond to you, improve Mo Layer, diagnose bugs, prioritize features, understand privacy concerns, and maintain product quality.
7. Subscriptions and purchase information
Mo Layer purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment processing, receipts, renewals, cancellations, refunds, taxes, and payment disputes.
Mo Layer may receive or process limited purchase-related information needed to verify entitlement status, such as product identifiers, subscription status, transaction status, expiration dates, renewal status, and receipt validation results. We do not receive your full payment card number from Apple.
8. iCloud sync and Apple services
If you enable encrypted iCloud sync, Mo Layer uses Apple services such as iCloud and CloudKit to store encrypted vault records and encrypted file assets for recovery and device changes.
iCloud sync depends on your Apple ID, iCloud settings, storage quota, device trust, network availability, and Apple’s service availability. Apple’s handling of Apple account and iCloud information is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy and terms.
Because Mo Layer is designed not to hold your decryption key, we may be unable to recover your vault if your device keys, passcode, Apple account access, trusted device access, or recovery information are lost.
9. How we use information
We use information only for purposes related to operating and improving Mo Layer, including:
- Providing private vault, import, organization, search, decoy, recovery, and sync features.
- Verifying purchases and enabling paid features.
- Responding to feedback and support requests.
- Diagnosing crashes, bugs, sync issues, and product reliability problems.
- Preventing abuse, fraud, security incidents, and violations of our Terms.
- Complying with legal obligations.
We do not use your private vault content for targeted advertising. We do not sell your private vault content or personal information.
10. Sharing information
We may share information only in limited circumstances:
- With service providers that help operate the website, feedback database, email, hosting, app distribution, purchase processing, or other product infrastructure.
- With Apple and Apple services when you use App Store purchases, iCloud, CloudKit, device permissions, or other Apple platform features.
- If required by law, court order, legal process, or a valid government request.
- To protect the rights, safety, security, or property of users, the public, the developer, or the product.
- As part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, subject to reasonable privacy protections.
We require service providers to use information only for the services they provide to us and to protect it appropriately.
11. Security
Mo Layer uses privacy-focused product design, local-first storage, iOS platform protections, device authentication, encryption, and optional encrypted iCloud sync to help protect your content.
No security method is perfect. Risks may come from device compromise, lost devices, weak passcodes, shared Apple IDs, insecure backups, exported files, screenshots, screen recordings, malware, jailbroken devices, social engineering, third-party cloud services, or user actions outside Mo Layer.
You should keep your device updated, use a strong device passcode, protect your Apple ID, review iCloud settings, test recovery before relying on sync, and keep independent backups for files that are especially important.
12. Retention
Private vault content stored locally remains on your device until you delete it, export it, uninstall the app, erase the device, or otherwise remove it through device or app actions.
Encrypted iCloud data may remain in your Apple iCloud environment until deleted through app features, device settings, Apple account actions, or Apple retention processes.
Feedback and support records may be retained for as long as needed to respond, improve the product, maintain records, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. We may delete or anonymize old feedback when it is no longer needed.
13. Your choices
You can:
- Choose which files to import.
- Decline or change iOS permissions.
- Disable optional iCloud sync if you do not want encrypted vault data synced through Apple services.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Apple ID settings.
- Delete local content from the app.
- Export content before deleting the app or changing devices.
- Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of feedback or support information you submitted.
Some requests may require verification and may be limited by law, security needs, or technical constraints.
14. Children
Mo Layer is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child provided personal information through the website or support channel, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
15. International use
Mo Layer may be available in multiple countries or regions. Your information may be processed where you live, where Apple provides services, where our website or feedback infrastructure operates, or where service providers are located. Privacy laws may differ by region.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the product, law, platform rules, data practices, or service providers change. The updated version will be posted on this website with a new effective date.
